Adaptation of a novel by Zigmunds Skujiņš. Alfrēds Turlavs is working in a construction department of a telephone factory. He is rather well-off professionally, his daughter Vita has just gotten married but relationship with wife Līvija is growing cool. But then a fire sparks between Alfrēds and his young co-worker Maija.
