A controversial story in the last days of 'Free' Native Americans, about a small Native American Shoshone Band the secluded mountains of northern California, against the backdrop of the American 'Civil' War. The leader is Chief Great Eagle, and in the Band is his son Silver Eagle, and his son's betrothed Minnewanna. They peacefully live with several hundred others in their mountain village. But soon their way of life is affected by the war, and 'Indian' removal policies spreading west in the 1860's. Union soldiers force the Band to move from their homeland, and they are continually harassed, being forced to move from valley to valley as Lincoln and the Union keep taking more and more of Native American land. It also brings to light what is going on in in the rest of the country and the radical Republicans plans to eradicate the country of 'Savages', the extermination of Native Americans. While the small Shoshone band is harassed by the Union, a stranger appears.
