There has been no shortage of fashion documentaries and movies rolling off the assembly line in France and America of late, so it’s no surprise that one about Yves Saint Laurent will be hitting shelves in November. Entitled ‘Yves Saint Laurent Tout Terriblement’ (While Terribly), the document was originally screened in 1994. One of the must-watch footage reportedly dates back to 1968 when Coco Chanel named YSL as her successor at her fashion house because his designs were copies of her. To which he replied: “I think also the big difference between me and Mademoiselle Chanel is that I try to bring women a style that allows them to adapt their style to my dresses and allows them to develop their personalities. While a woman who wears Chanel resembles Mademoiselle Chanel.” The rest of the footage was filmed during 1994 at YSL’s various houses and goes behind the scenes of the creative process of his Haute Couture collection.
