On June 7, 1968, the leader of ETA Txabi Etxebarrieta crossed the “invisible line“, killing the first of 853 victims of the terrorist organization, Galician Guardia Civil Officer José Antonio Pardines, just 25 years old. A few hours later, Txabi Etxebarrieta himself was gunned down in a clash with the Guardia Civil, thus becoming the first terrorist to kill and the first to die in the history of ETA.
