"I am Latvian" is a story about Latvians who were forced to leave their land and look for refuge somewhere else. The film shows these people who, during long years, hold their feet steady on foreign soil and have become educated and respectable citizens, yet have managed to keep their language and Latvian roots. The film was shot between 1988 and 1990, and it was a big dare back then - The Awakening were just beginning when Ansis Epners travelled the world to meet Latvians in exile.
