A middle-aged woman, her son and mother reside near a quarry called Little Guilin, after a famous landmark in China. She pretends she is a prospective buyer who arranges to view apartments, stealing an object from each family that resides in them; borrowing a moment. Glimpsing the quarry through various homes, her obsession culminates when she takes an excursion to visit it.
