Produced for the C4 programme Arthouse, this programme looks back at the scandalous life of Anais Nin with some reconstructions, readings, and mostly discussions with people from her life. It spares no blushes and some of the interviewees hit pretty hard. Her biographer Deirdre Bair is clearly not a fan. Kenneth Anger and Renate Druks discuss the filming of Inauguration Of The Pleasure Dome in caustic terms. Her brother is scathing about Henry Miller, "the genius without talent" and others. Peter Owen is amazed she had time to write Fire when she frequently had sex 3 times a day with diffeerent lovers each time John Ferrone explains he had to draw diagrams for Delta Of Venus to ensure there were not too many body parts involved in the stories. Her later importance to the feminist movement recalls how her followers would be called Daughters Of Anais or, eh, Ninnies... For all that, there is much of value here for fans of Nin, but it is no hagiography.
