Lars Hemingstam was born in Sweden, on November 6, 1946, to Tage and Ruth Hemingstam. He grew up in Stockholm, except for the years 1957 to 1960, when he lived and attended school in the United States, in Collinsville & Chicago, Illinois, and Long Beach, California.
