Alexis Milan was born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey. In her early teens, she was encouraged by her mother to begin modeling as a way for her to gain confidence and overcome shyness. Her first job was a back-to-school spread in Seventeen Magazine, after which she continued booking major jobs including spreads for Marc Ecko and Baby Phat.
